It may seem "dramatically" appropriate to give someone a huge reward for a huge accomplishment, but the problem is, sometimes the whole point of the accomplishment is.well, the accomplishment itself. You've probably beaten the game already so it's not like they do matter much (though there IS a new game plus mode, I think, where you can use them). In the Castlevania example, you get some in-game items as rewards. Second, the rewards should not overshadow the accomplishment. if they made the limit, say, 1 minute 30 seconds, a lot of people would complain it's excessively difficult. The game rewards you for finishing it within 8, 7, 6, and 5 minutes (four different rewards). Current world record? just under 1 minute 18 seconds. For example: Boss Rush as Soma in Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow. Speedrun achievements, generally are things that have time limits well above the world records. Then there will be complaints about the cheating. Zeroth, Nintendo won't ever put stuff on PC, at least until its business dies, which is not even close to happening.Īnyway, first, if you're going to tie a tangible reward to a speedrun achievement, you had better not make it so insanely difficult, or you will get players flaming you up the wazoo for it.
